Ipsy: Hello Spring

Every day my mail comes I have to laugh because i’m 99.9% sure my mailman either thinks i’m crazy or rich because it seems like every day he is dropping off boxes. I’m neither of those things but I do know how to stretch my beauty dollas and Ipsy is one of those not-so-secret ways!

For $10 a month you get a makeup bag designed for Ipsy and 4-6 beauty products to try. Now some months are better than others but generally the items are from good decent brands and offer a range of products. My one true complaint with Ipsy is I don’t think they truly “customize” your bags to your profile and reviews so be warned you may receive colors/products out of your comfort zone but sometimes that can be half the fun. My other gripe is that they include a useless card featuring their girls dolled up and social media contests but never anything about the products. So it takes a little extra effort to get more information about the products you received unlike some other $10 subscriptions *coughbirchboxcough*. Get with it Ipsy!

It’s hard to believe that we are in the middle of March already and so of course the monthly theme is “Hello Spring”. The bag isn’t my favorite because I thought I was getting a different color variation because it is whoa bright but its of nice size, and a typical ipsy bag.

Now before I get into what I received this month I have to say I am completely in love with my body scrub, highlight, and flat definer brush that I received last month. If you’re curious about last month’s bag you can check it out here. Now onto this month!

Organic Surge Lavender Meadow Hand & Nail Cream ($2.14): So first thing is a hand & nail cream which isn’t so bad right? But then they smacked lavender on the package and well we all know where this is going. I even thought to myself that maybe it won’t be that bad but I can smell that crap through the seal so its a big fat no. I’m sure its a decent hand cream though.

Manna Kadar 3-in-1 Eyeshadow in Fantasy ($19): This 3-in-1 can be used as an eyeshadow, blush, or highlight and I actually like the color. I need to play with it some more to find out which way I prefer it but I love it as an eyeshadow! It is extremely pigmented and creamy, and definitely a nice product.

NoTS 28 Remedy Balancing Toner ($5.97): I’ve actually been looking for a toner to add into my rotation to try out and I thought I had quite a few in my collection but they seemed to have grown legs and walked away so while i’m not stoked to received another skin care item at least its a different part of the body and i’ll use it. Lately my skin seems to be more on the sensitive side so i’m curious to see how this reacts with it. I’ll let you know either in an empties post or April’s bag.

Nyx Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft-Spoken ($7): I love Nyx products so any time I see them in a subscription box I get happy. Granted its not the most expensive makeup and readily accessible but they come out with good products..most of the time anyways so i’m always up for trying out new things. I received the shade Soft-Spoken which is a mauve nude and probably wouldn’t have been the color I chose for myself since i’m white as a ghost and it comes off more brown on the lips. The formula does feel good but I do suggest using a scrub and moisturizer before applying since it dries down. I will definitely pick up other shades (there is 13 in total) and maybe do a review on them? Leave a comment down below with any reviews you’d like to see (these or any product/line) and i’ll work on getting those up.

Temptu Bronzer in Warm Glow ($6.88 based off the highlighter pricing): I know i’ve received a highlighter from them before and it was okay so i’m not thrilled over the bronzer. Its very liquidy so you don’t need a lot but hard to get only one or two drops out (you can see the lid is already a mess) and it comes off very orange on my skin tone. I may be able to get away with it if I blend it out enough but there is a heck of a lot of shimmer that i’d be afraid to use it all over my face. First impression, not a huge fan but i’ll give it a good effort this month and report back. Also, the website doesn’t sell this product like they do for their highlighter so not sure what that is about except they use airbrush bronzer.

So this month I received a decent range of products and other than personal preferences I can’t complain too much. I do prefer to get tools in my bags because I hate shelling out the money for something I don’t like or it doesn’t work well but I got one last month so not surprised I didn’t get one this month. Overall the only two things i’m super happy to see is the Manna Kadar and Nyx products, the toner and bronzer need more time to come up with an opinion, and the hand cream isn’t even getting the chance. For a $10 bag I received 4x the amount back in product plus a makeup bag so the value is pretty dang good.

If you’re interested in joining Ipsy you can do so here and help me get some points for extra bag items 🙂 If you received Ipsy this month what was in your glam bag? Was your makeup bag different?
