Barkbox “Island Paradise” and “Movie Night” March ’15 Review

BARKBOX:  Join today and get a free month!

Type: Pet Box

Cost: $29/month through $18/month for 12 months

What: Monthly subscription for your pup with 4-6 items ranging from treats to toys to products. With three different box options depending your dog’s size and an option to add on another toy, there is something for every pup! You can also email them and let them know you have a heavy chewer and they try to send more durable toys! BarkBox also gives a portion of proceeds from each box to animal shelters for pups in need! Really cool!

I’ve said this time and time again, Barkbox is one of my favorite subscriptions in the world of subscriptions and it isn’t even for me. Cache absolutely adores his boxes and knows which ones are his each month. This month proved my point as he is contently laying down with one of the toys squeaking away as we speak type. Now Cache has two subs and this is the first month we’ve seen two different themes but he also gets two different dog size box since he is so young but big at the same time.

This month’s theme is Island Paradise and unlike Barkbeard who buries his treasured toys and treats, Barkbox is sending their finest treasures to pupscribers.

Box #1:

BarkMade Message in a Bottle ($13): Custom-made with non-toxic TPR, Cache now has his very own message in a bottle. Of course it squeaks and he is in heaven with it. Super cute.

Yeti Corp Golden Nugget ($8): Made from yak and cow milk, salt, and lime juice, you put these in the microwave like popcorn. Interesting..he has too many treats open but i’m sure this will be a hit.

Etta Says! Bison Chew ($3): We’ve received quite a few of these chews (all different protein thankfully) and Cache loves them. I might actually look into purchasing a few of these as backups.

FullSizeRender (6)

SafeMade Pineapple ($10): Again, how cute are the toys every month?! I don’t think this will last very long as Cache loves to pull the squeakers out of his toys but it is cute.

Grandma Bowser’s Mai Tai Mango Biscuits ($6): We have also received this brand before but they were cheddar biscuits. These have fresh ingredients without artificial flavorings, preservatives, or added sugar so they are great for pups. I’m sure these will be a hit too.

Box total: $40

This is a great box! There are two toys, two treats, and one chew! You definitely get your money’s worth (single boxes are $29, longer subs lower the price) and the themes are just too much for words.

Box #2 “Movie Night”

FullSizeRender (2)

Pet Qwerks Pawpcorn ($10): This will not last. As soon as I pulled it out of the box Cache grabbed it. I’m pretty sure the fluffing will be out by the end of the day. But still, another fun toy.

FullSizeRender (6)

Nature’s Bits Salmon Recipe ($8): Cache is overflowing with treats right now so this will go on the shelf and put into rotation when we empty something else. You do get a lot of treats with these subs but I don’t think Cache feels that is a bad thing.

FullSizeRender (3)

Butcher’s Block Dynamo ($3): Okay, this box could have only come with this item and Cache would be over the moon. He loves these darn things. They could have put 10 in a box and i’d be perfectly okay with that.

FullSizeRender (5)

Healthy Dogma Bacon Hearts ($8): So even though Cache does have a lot of treats, I was intrigued by these haha. Cache seemed to like it and I loved the container.

FullSizeRender (4)

BarkMade Flexi Dog Bowl ($6): Sometimes Barkbox places “lifestyle” items for dogs in their boxes. So this month we received a water bottle and a food bowl. These will be great to take on a longer walk for a pit stop break along the way.

Box total: $35

This is a pretty good box, you do get over the value and it is nice to sometimes get useful things like dog food/water bowls besides toys. Cache was super excited for the popcorn toy until he smelled the smoked bone. He ADORES those things..I mean if you were to walk into my house right now you would think we had a dead cow somewhere because of all of the bones. It is definitely a soother for him as he will just pick up a bone and go lay down with it and gnaw (he loves the pressure on the back teeth) which has been a lifesaver but boy does he get some gas haha.

So there ya go, I think I like the Island box over the Movie box but they were both great! Cache loves the message in the bottle toy and the bone the most! Either way its a win/win for us. If you’re thinking about joining Barkbox or want to get more information you can do that here. Boxes start at $29 a month and go lower with multi-month subscriptions and if you sign up with my link you’ll get a free box added!

Does your pet get a box like my spoiled pup? 🙂 Is this something you would consider? Let’s chat it up! Feel free to post pics of your pets with their favorite toy, Cache would love to see them!
