Beauty Box 5 “Hooray” Feb ’15 Review

Hey Dandelions! BB5 has been a little bit of a disappointment lately as their last few boxes have been a little on the eh side. When I first started my subscription I loved it and then there were just a few cheapo boxes thrown in and so i’m hoping we are moving back up to loving the boxes again. Quite a few boxes hit this month out of the ball park already so cross your fingers this one did too!

This month is their 3 year anniversary and so this box is to curate the Hooray theme. I was kind of hoping more of a valentine’s theme but what can ya do.

Glamglow Youth-Mud Tinglexfoliate Treament ($6.90): Glamglow is a pretty popular brand and one that is definitely on the expensive side. I’ve already received this product before (in a different sub) but I actually haven’t used it yet so I can try this sample first since it is a lot smaller than my other one. I’ll give it a try but I wish it was just a tad bit bigger.

Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel in #140 Fall Mood ($3.99): This is a full sized nail polish which is nice but it seems a little odd to be getting such a fall color in February. It says assorted colors on the card so it’s probably random but still..not really sure i’ll use this color but I don’t think I have one too similar in my collection. It seems to have quite a bit if shimmer in it as well. I might try it out.

Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in Vanilla Frosting ($22.50): Holy crap..this teeeeeeeny container is full-sized and costs over $20..uhh holy sparkles. This to me doesn’t seem like an eyeshadow instead it should be a shimmer because this stuff is pure sparkles. It swatched on my hand and the white instantly disappeared and left with nothing but a disco ball look when it hit the light. I might use this over my eye shadows if i’m feeling a little early 20s but i’m going to have to play with it a little bit to see if I can get the white to stay. If I do use it it’ll be in inner corner just to brighten my eyes up a bit and I might try it as a highlighter as they suggest…but I don’t know…

Absolute New York Love Lip Balm in Strawberry ($5.00): Yay! If I had to choose a flavor for a lip balm it would be strawberry so i’m happy about that, but I wouldn’t say it is my favorite lip balm in the world.  I feel like i’d grab for my EOS one over this but it’s not a bad product.

Avon Big Color Eye Pencil in Sunkissed ($3.49): I’ve actually never tried Avon products before..to me they just feel “old ladyish” (don’t take that personally!) but this is a pretty bronze color..I think they are trying to tell me something with these bronzes!

YourMinerals Gift Card ($20): I’ve never heard of this brand before or tried their products so I went with a concealer brush. Got a $22 brush for $6 with shipping..not a bad deal!!!

Overall I received $61.88 for a $12/month subscription. I really appreciated the $20 gift card because I HATE spending money on tools like brushes haha and I saved quite a bit on one! I also liked the lip balm and excited for the Glamglow..i’m a little ehhh on the nail polish, eye pencil, and eyeshadow only because i’m not a huge fan of bronze and the shadow is mostly just sparkles unless I can play around and make it work with more of the white. While this isn’t personally my favorite box, I think this is definitely a step in the right direction!! I’m pretty sure if I had different colors I would be more in love with a few of the products. If you’re interested in checking out Beauty Box 5, you can do that here!

What do you think of Beauty Box 5 this month? Worth the $12? What was your favorite item?!
